Physical Description of Tega Cay:  Tega Cay Real Estate provides a unique feel with rolling hills, a waterfront community, country club living and a great resort atmosphere.  Even as the Tega Cay SC Real Estate area continues to grow, you can not escape the small town community feel.

Tega Cay Real Estate History:  In 1970 the Ervin Company broke ground on 1,600 wooded acres of land on Lake Wylie previously owned by Duke Power Company. They named the area Tega Cay, which meansbeautiful peninsula” in Polynesian.  The Polynesian theme was carried out everywhere, from street names to home design to the clubhouse décor.

In 1982, Tega Cay became a city in order to ensure the rights and protect the best interests of the Tega Cay homeowners.

The City of Tega Cay annexed (in 2000) three new areas consisting of Stonecrest, Crescent and Nivens Creek Landing. Stonecrest offers the newest planned retail and commercial properties to the City, along with Tega Cay town homes and apartments. Crescent will consist of town homes, while Nivens Creek is owned by Duke Power and provides a boat ramp for residents of Tega Cay.

The census for the year 2000 shows 4,040 residents. However, the planned growth with the Newland Carolina Development and the new annexed areas will more than double the population within Tega Cay by the year 2010.

Tega Cay has many recreational facilities which include:

  • 27 holes of golf and clubhouse/pavilion
  • 8 lighted tennis courts
  • Beach and swim center
  • WalMart
  • Several Miles of walking trails
  • 2 Parks containing baseball and soccer fields
  • 6 Waterfront Parks
  • 4 interior Parks/Playgrounds
  • A Private Marina
  • Several Boat launching areas

Fort Mill School District:  Tega Cay is rapidly growing.  As parents, we have been conditioned to think "Is the school big enough?" or  "I do not like the idea of Portable Classrooms" or "The school is over capacity."

Allow me to suggest a different perspective:  Is my child receiving a quality education?  How is the school rated nationally?  How are the children of Tega Cay doing on the standardized testing?

Concept #1:  A great school will attract more parents and obviously have continual student growth.  You are an example of this is the growth in both Fort Mill and Tega Cay. 

Concept #2:  As a parent, you choose a home based on the school.  What are your expectations for your child?  I am certain they are very high.  Students get top scores by studying and working hard; there is no secret to success.

Concept #3:  What happens when increased Tega Cay Homes open a new school?  Quality divided  by any number is still quality.

New Hospitals:  Presbyterian has approval for a new Hospital in Fort Mill Real Estate on Hwy 160 across from the Peach Tree Stand.  Not just what you expected, but everything you had hoped.
