The affluence spread slightly east and west into Dilworth and Elizabeth as Charlotte NC continued to evolve.

As South Charlotte Real Estate continued to expand, the affluent lifestyle continued to spread throughout South Park Real Estate.  Back in the early 1990's South Park homes provided a nice area and had the South park Mall in the center.  The area was a nice family friendly community.  As Charlotte grew, the affluence of Myers Park enveloped South Park; the area developed into a more commercial/white collar neighborhood.  The South Park Real Estate cooridor transformed.

The white collar life style then continued south into  Ballantyne Real Estate.  Ballantyne was a hunting preserve prior to this new development. In the 1990's, Ballantyne was planned to be a "Live, Work, Play" community with a mix of commercial and mixed residential.  Ballantyne Homes are wildly popular throughout the nation and with a prestigious reputation.

• Two new Charlotte NC Elementary schools opened in 2008 (Elon and Ballantyne).
• The northern side of Ardrey Kell Rd (across from the new school, has 8/10th of a mile of development.  The new Harris Teeter grocery store opened summer 2008. Additional surrounding shops continue to open. 
• A live/work/play Charlotte townhome community is progressing well at Ardry Kell and Marvin.  The townhomes will be zoned for mix use which will be ideal for a home office.  The builder is preselling both stores and townhomes.
• The new park is already open in South Charlotte.  The park is located behind the Elon elementary school.  There is currently a gymnasium, a fishing pond and walking trails.  The park is expanding and will support many additional recreational amenities.
• Peak fitness and Sports Complex at Johnston and Ardrey Kell opened in 2008. 
• The shops at Blakeney continue to expand with Pet Smart and Best Buy opened fall 2008.
• On the south east corner of the Ardrey Kell and Rea Rd intersection the apartments are completed.  These are the only apartments in this area and will help balance out the community with a nice mix of housing options.
• There is new fire station being constructed on Providence rd just south of the Arboretum.

South Charlotte is experiencing explosive growth and is the hottest housing market within Charlotte.
