As you evaluate your new Carolina home, one large expense to consider is the property tax.  Both North Carolina and North Carolina handle property tax values in a similar way.  Both states reevaluate all homes at regular intervals.  What this means to you is that when your house is reassessed so is the entire area.  There will not be a disparity within the same area so the system is fair.  North Carolina Reassessment is every 4 to 8 years.  Mecklenburg County assessed in 2011 as did Iredell County.  Gaston County's last assessment was in 2007 and both Union and Cabarrus Counties reassessed in 2012.

South Carolina assesses property values every 5 years.  York County and Lancaster County reassessed values in 2011.
