Clover History: Clover SC (before actually becoming a town) was a train stop with a large water tower to refuel steam engines. Eventually commerce expanded and Clover was officially established in 1887 as a textile town. Legend has it that the town's name came from a clover patch that resulted from the water tower. A large patch of clover was the common reference to the town and the name stuck. The textiles have since moved on but the style and character of the town remain; a warm friendly small southern town. Manners are still the norm in our town.
