Several Important Senior Housing considerations:
1) Floor plan-the floor plan must be a ranch home. When we purchase a home, I want to be assured you have many years of happiness. Stairs may be OK for now, but what if you are ill and are no longer able to go up and down steps. A ranch plan permits more independence, freedom and a better quality of life.
2) Proximately to Medical Facilities-we must consider the distance for emergency care.
3) Social Life-What activities are nearby? Golf? Cards? Bingo? Riding Bikes? Do you prefer other seniors, do you like a mixed environment and do you enjoy the sounds of young children nearby?
4) Bathroom-the most important room in the home. One of he most frustrating things about aging is accepting our new limitations. The shower must provide the room for an optional seat and the entrance must not be a large step. There will be a day when your knees are a little sore and the proper shower will be very important.
5) Your yard-serious consideration will be made for your yard. Is the grade level enough? How about lawn maintenance?
Financing note whenseeking Reverse Mortgage lenders:
< $500,000 FHA or Fannie Mae are the best options
> $500,000 Financial Freedom Plan is the best alternative
Careful planning and professional Real Estate assistance will help find a home that will provide years of additional independence. No one likes to admit new challenges as we age. We must be smart enough to plan around things. I can help.
